The High Court of Judicature at Patna

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kumar Manish was born on 23rd May 1972. He did his schooling from St. Michael’s High School, Patna, and pursued his higher education at University of Delhi, from where he obtained his B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology and LL.B. from Campus Law Centre in 1997 and also pursued Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi.

He was enrolled as an Advocate with Bihar State Bar Council in August 1998 (w.e.f. 1997) and practised before Patna High Court for more than 27 years, with specialisation in Civil, Constitutional, Commercial & Arbitration matters, besides regularly appearing before Hon’ble Supreme Court as well as in different High Courts.

During his distinguished legal career, his Lordship served in several significant legal capacities, including Counsel for Indian Railways, Standing Counsel for the Government of Bihar, Additional Standing Counsel for Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited in Patna High Court and Counsel for various Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory Bodies, Corporate Houses / Multi-National Companies and also worked for various renowned & well reputed Law firms in India. He has also handled important highstakes arbitration matters for the Government of Bihar and Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd.

With a rich, established and diverse experience in multifaceted domains in law, his Lordship brings to the Bench a broad exposure to litigation, public law and legal practice acquired over several decades.

His Lordship was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Patna on 15th June 2026.
